Secretary General attends OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna

"I said at the very beginning of my mandate, in 2019, that I wanted to reinforce co-operation between the Council of Europe and other international organisations in the interest of people in Europe, and the wider world. And I cannot think of a better way to mark the Council of Europe's 75th anniversarythan by ensuring that our essential standards in human rights, democracy and the rule of law are applied to the issues that will define our continent's future", stated Secretary GeneralMarija Pejčinović Burić while addressing the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) Permanent Council in Vienna.

In line with the follow up to the Reykjavik Summit, the Secretary General highlighted the relevance of the Register of Damage, of the draft Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Lawand of the challenges for the protection of environment in today's world.

Marija Pejčinović Burićhad meetings with OSCE Permanent Council Chair Natasha Meli Daudey (Permanent Representative of Malta) and OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid, underlining the excellent longstanding relationship and co-operation between the two multilateral organisations based on shared values.

An exchange of views with the Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) Sirpa Rautio was also part of the programme.
