On April 30, 2024 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Spiritwood RCMP received a report that a conservation officer with the Provincial Protective Services Branch conducted a traffic stop in Leoville, SK.
Spiritwood RCMP responded and investigation determined the driver of the vehicle was wanted on warrant from Spiritwood RCMP for failing to appear in court.
During subsequent investigation, officers located and seized approximately 43 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 52 grams of methamphetamine, bear spray, brass knuckles, an imitation pistol, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a sum of cash in the vehicle.
Two adult males were arrested at the scene.
30-year-old Mathew Whitstone and 40-year-old Byron Peekeekoot, both from Pelican Lake First Nation, are each charged with:
Mathew Whitstone was arrested on warrant and additionally charged with two counts, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code. Byron Peekeekoot was additionally charged with one count, possess firearm contrary to order, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code.
Mathew Whitstone and Byron Peekeekoot are scheduled to appear in Spiritwood court on June 25.
