PennDOT's Westmoreland County Maintenance Update -- Week of May 6, 2024

Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of May 6, 2024. All maintenance activities are conducted depending on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Bridge flushing:

  • Various routes countywide.

Crack sealing:

  • Route 30 in Unity and Ligonier townships.
  • Route 3091 (New Stanton-Youngwood Road) in New Stanton Borough.

Patching:

  • Route 30 in Unity Township.

Parallel drainage:

  • Route 3016 (Lowber Road) in Sewickley Township.
  • Route 3011 (Indian Hill Road) in Rostraver Township.

Pipe flushing:

  • Route 3069 (Wendell Road) in Hempfield Township.

Pipe installation:

  • Route 259 in Ligonier Township.
  • Route 3009 in Rostraver Township.
  • Route 130 (Harrison Avenue) in Penn Township.

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 711 in Ligonier Township.

Shoulder stabilization:

  • Route 259 in Fairfield Township.
  • Route 3016 (Herminie Road) in Sewickley Township.

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern. This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1.800.FIX ROAD (1.800.349.7623).

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
