Construction in this area will continue for several weeks. Due to the work on the private parking lot, the City-owned public parking lot behind Sushi Confidential, Rosy's at the Beach, and The Hill will necessitate changes to allow traffic flow through the lot.

City Council recently voted to award the contract for the project to SubTerra Construction, Inc. Construction is progressing north along Condit Road between Barrett Avenue and San Pedro Avenue and is expected to complete this fall. Installation of the main sewer pipe has been completed and crews are now restoring the roadway. The project will be restoring and resurfacing roadway from Barrett Avenue and East Dunne Avenue. The Old Monterey Road Underground Utilities Project will include the undergrounding of overhead utilities along Llagas Road from Old Monterey Road to Monterey Road. A Public Hearing was held on May 15, 2024, for this project in order to form an Underground Utility District. Residents within 300' of the Proposed Underground Utility District will be notified through mail. Staff will be working with PGE to design project prior to construction with a tentative start date of 2030.
The 2023 Inflow and Infiltration Sewer Project is close to completion, crews will be completing punch list items. This annual project repairs sections of the sewer main throughout the city.
Frontier Communications continues to upgrade and install new fiber optic communication cables throughout the city. In some cases, this work includes cutting into the roadway and sidewalk to place new underground conduit that houses the fiber optic cable. Fiber optic cable is also being installed on existing poles in areas of the City that are served overhead.
Work is occurring in multiple area and may include road closures, lane reductions or crews may be required to briefly stop traffic for repositioning. Please be mindful of 72-hour no parking notices and sidewalk closures associated with the work. You may also see paint markings or small flags of varying colors for utilities in your area. These markings are to indicate the locations of other utility lines in the area, and to ensure that damage and outages do not occur as a result of the work the telecommunications company is doing to update or install their cables. This work should not impact your utility service. Utility companies should be using chalk paint so the markings will remain only temporarily.
Frontier Communications is using the subcontractor Golden State Utility Company for the fiber optic cable installation. Golden State Utility Company will be placing door hangers and no parking notices in neighborhoods prior to the start of work.
For information on the Frontier project and service availability, residents can contact Frontier directly at 877-436-0325 (residential), 877-414-1311 (business), or visit https://www.getfrontierfiber.com for more information.
Please drive cautiously through construction areas and follow signage for detours. Whenever possible, utilize alternate routes while the work is being completed.
