AARP offers free tax assistance at New Rochelle Public Library

Free, in-person tax assistance through AARP Tax Aide will again be offered at the New Rochelle Public Library this tax season.

This year, assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis; no appointments will be available. Assistance will be provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Tuesday, February 2 through April 18, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Main Library, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle. Trained AARP volunteer counselors will meet with patrons in the library's Meeting Room and on the stage of the Theater, in the order in which they arrive. All patrons receiving assistance, as well as tax preparers, must wear a mask in the Theater and Meeting Room.

Participants are reminded to bring with them last year's federal and state returns and supporting documentation, as well as an official photo identification and a social security card, or other comparable documentation.

The New Rochelle Public Library (NRPL) is a community resource that seeks to improve the life of every citizen in our city. The Library offers a comprehensive print and digital collection that includes retrospective and current materials, up-to-date technology for public use, and a wide range of community services and programs tailored to a diverse audience. Chartered in 1894, NRPL is a school-district library with its own operating budget and a Board of Trustees composed of seven elected members.
