RAFFIC ADVISORY: Temporary Intersection Closure of Saint Charles Avenue and Adams Street

NEW ORLEANS - Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 29, the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works' (DPW) contractor, Renegade Construction, LLC, will temporarily close the intersection of Saint Charles Avenue and Adams Street for approximately 24 hours to accommodate water utilities connections as a part of the East Carrollton B&C construction project.

Public safety is top priority; signage and traffic control measures, such as barrels and fencing, will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians.

During this closure, traffic will be rerouted down northbound on Broadway Street and westbound on South Claiborne Avenue. Residents and businesses in this area were notified of the closure via a neighborhood canvass.

The $28.7 million East Carrollton Group B&C project was designed by Ardurra and is being constructed by Impetus Infrastructure, LLC. The scope of work varies by block but includes repairing sewage, water and drainage lines, as well as rebuilding the street entirely and repairing sidewalks and curbs. In general, the contractor is working from 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday through Friday. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by the Spring of 2025, weather permitting.

Since May 2018, DPW has completed 186 projects with an estimated value of $765 million. Today, 55 roadwork projects are under construction with an estimated value of nearly $781 million.
