The City of Richardson and the Richardson Kiwanis Club are using Richardson's upcoming sesquicentennial celebration as the theme to kick off the second annual Traffic Signal Box Art Contest. Choose what to celebrate about Richardson's past 150 years. Your design might feature technology, parks and pools, your school, festivals, events, parades, old establishments, pastimes, people or just a great memory. The contest is open to individual artists residing in the city or students attending a school located within Richardson. The deadline to enter is Friday, April 28 by 5 p.m.
In addition to having their artwork showcased in the community, the five winning artists will also receive $200, a plaque and have their work published in the Richardson Today and other municipal communication channels. The winning designs will also be showcased at the following intersections.

Students in kindergarten through 12 grade can enter the DART Student Art Contest for a chance to have their artwork appear in galleries and on DART buses and trains. Students should submit original artwork that illustrates the theme "Go here. Go there. Go Everywhere!" The deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 22.

Help celebrate Richardson's 150th anniversary with a community jigsaw puzzle we can all help put together. Stop by the First Floor Information Desk in the Richardson Public Library to get a puzzle piece, then decorate it with something you love about Richardson and return it to the Library by March 15 to be assembled with other contributions.

As part of the City's 150th celebration, the community is invited to write a "love note" to Richardson. Stop by a participating City facility and write down your favorite memory or blessing that has come from being a part of such a wonderful and unique community. Notes can be heartfelt or funny, as long as they are your memories of why you love Richardson. Heart-shaped paper will be provided for your note, and all notes will be part of a display at the citywide celebration June 24. (Please make sure all notes are family-friendly in nature.)
Participating facilities include:
Adults and children are invited to read and participate in a Library and city activity card challenge in connection with Richardson's 150th birthday celebration. Participants who complete the challenge will be eligible to win prizes. Adult cards will be available at the First Floor Help Desk and the children's cards can be picked up at the Youth Services Help Desk. All cards must be returned to the Library by June 24 to exchange for a prize entry form. Complete a row of challenges or fill the whole card.

Enjoy the March edition of Darbey's StoryWalk®. This month's book is titled "Where is the Dragon?" written and illustrated by Leo Timmers. This a fun, clever book where the magic is in the illustrations. Readers can march along with three (mostly) brave knights and guess which silhouettes are actual dragons and which might be something else.
Darbey's StoryWalk® is all about movement and reading, as it enables visitors to walk along a designated path behind the Library while reading pages of a children's book posted at 16 different stations.

The latest installment of The IQ Brew features James Scaggs with Advanced Crypto Services, Steve Kinard with Texas Blockchain Council and a representative from Applied Digital. The topic will be Bitcoin Mining: a strategic opportunity for innovation and prosperity in Texas.
The IQ Brew is a networking and educational series featuring short presentations from entrepreneurs, small business owners and subject matter experts. The goal of each event is to share the successes and challenges the Richardson business community has faced or will face while starting and growing a new business.
