PORTLAND, Ore. --- Tani Stephens will join the Portland Pilots beach volleyball team this spring as a graduate transfer after having completed her undergraduate career at Washington State University. Stephens majored in sport science and was a part of WSU's 2013 recruiting class, which was ranked the 14th-best in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com. 'Tani Stephens is a fantastic young lady, and a terrific beach volleyball player,' said head coach Brent Crouch. ' She's performed well in tournaments throughout the Northwest, and has experience on AVP tour. She comes from a Cougar team that finished 24 nationally, and was part of the class that turned the program around. We think she'll be a great addition to our young beach volleyball program!' During Stephen's four-year career with the Cougars, she received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2013, 2014, 2015 and was WSU's tri-captain for the 2016 season. Last summer she won the North Pacific Beach Volleyball Association 2's Tournament in Portland and also competed at the Chemeketa Tournament in Salem, Ore., finishing as the Women's AA Doubles tournament runners-up. Completing her undergraduate degree early, she comes to Portland to pursue a collegiate beach volleyball career while attending graduate school.
