Spirit Airlines Operational Issues Update #3

WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 4, 2021) - The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, representing 4,500 Spirit Flight Attendants, released the following statement on Spirit Airlines operational issues:

'Yesterday's meeting with management was successful. Management accepted the majority of our union's recommendations to address the ongoing operational issues.

'In an operational breakdown like this, the airline needs to 'reset' in order to recover quicker and prevent further disruptions that could last weeks. The reset will see significant cancellations in the short term, but avoid long term disruptions.

'Today, management is again proactively canceling flights to reboot the operation and reposition crews. As the airline rebuilds the schedule, we have negotiated premium pay trip pickups to help recover the operation. We also negotiated additional safety and security measures to protect crews and ensure adequate rest.

'We will continue to work with the airline on this and provide support to Flight Attendants.'
