The Case For Jeff Jackson In NC-14

"From the army to the state legislature, Jeff Jackson has dedicated his life to public service and North Carolinians have always been able to count on him to show up and fight for them. Now Jeff is stepping up again to be the next congressman for North Carolina's 14th Congressional District. Families in Charlotte deserve better than the toxic extremism from MAGA Republicans, and they'll send Jeff Jackson to Congress this November." - DCCC Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney

Subject: The Case For Jeff Jackson in NC-14

At every turn in life, Jeff Jackson has put his community first and dedicated his life to public service - as a veteran who enlisted after September 11th, a former assistant district attorney, state legislator, and current Major in the Army National Guard. Now, Jeff is stepping up again as the Democratic candidate for Congress in North Carolina's new 14th Congressional District.

NC-14 was created after population gains in North Carolina allocated the state a new congressional district, and after the Supreme Court struck down a Republican gerrymandered map. In this Democratic seat, Jeff Jackson is the sure favorite - he enters the race with strong grassroots support and name recognition after his run for United States Senate, and a massive warchest.

Jeff Jackson has a record of delivering results during his time in the North Carolina State Legislature. As state senator, Jeff fought to lower costs for working families, create jobs, and kickstart the economy. He supported legislation to increase the minimum wage, expand Medicaid, invest in public schools and universities, and make housing more affordable - and he's championed access to safe, legal abortion while voting against devastating Republican anti-abortion legislation.

The same can't be said for Pat Harrigan, who would turn his back on North Carolinians in DC.

In the wake of alarming reports that the Supreme Court of the United States is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, Pat Harrigan would spell disaster for North Carolina women: He said that people should "abide by it" if Roe v. Wade is overturned and abortion becomes illegal. And the last thing North Carolinians need is another rubber stamp for the Republican Party that opposed infrastructure investments, good-paying jobs, COVID-19 relief for small businesses and families, and capping the price of prescription drugs.

Fortunately, North Carolina voters have a different, better choice in Jeff Jackson, and they'll elect him to Congress this November.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

"It will be a difficult road to Washington for either Republican. Jackson has hundreds of thousands of dollars left over from his campaign for U.S. Senate, which he walked away from in December. On top of that, past election results indicate the district is likely to go to a Democrat." [The Charlotte Observer, 03/10/22]

PATH TO VICTORY

NC-14 was created after North Carolina gained an additional Congressional seat from reapportionment, and this new district is one of the better pick up opportunities for Democrats across the country. The district spans from the City of Charlotte in Mecklenburg and the immediate suburbs of Charlotte in Gaston County.

Voters in NC-14 have consistently supported Democratic candidates up and down the ballot in both state and federal races, and Jeff Jackson will make a great congressman for this new seat. 2020 Democratic congressional candidates would have won 66.2% of the two-way vote in this new district. Biden would have won 58.3% of the two-way vote, while Cal Cunningham would have won 55.6%, and Governor Roy Cooper 59.8%. Democrats hold an almost 8-point registration advantage over Republicans in the new district and more than 22% of registered voters are African American.

This well-educated suburban district has only become more Democratic over time, and Jeff Jackson will make an excellent representative for NC-14.
