As the 2023-2024 academic year at the George Washington University is in its final weeks, the university is offering resources and events to give students a boost as the official last day of classes on April 29 and finals approach. Here is a compilation of resources to help students utilize academic tools and take care of mental and physical health needs. There are also activities to help students take a short stress relief break to help them focus.
Students can utilize the following to help with end of the semester to-do lists such as writing papers, catching up on unread assignments, finishing final projects and studying for exams:
Students can connect with a counselor/clinician for an in-person visit at the Student Health Center during daily same day hours from noon-4 p.m. Monday to Saturday. During these same hours call 202-994-5300 for a virtual session. Students can call 202-994-5300 (option 3) 24-hours a day, seven days a week to speak with a counselor.
GW has also partnered with TimelyCare, a leading virtual telehealth provider to help students access medical and/or counseling services anytime-during the day, at night or on the weekend. Download the TimelyCare mobile app to your Android or Apple phone or visit via GW's TimelyCare portal on your desktop. Whether you're feeling under the weather, anxious or overwhelmed, you can talk to a licensed provider to get the care you need via phone or secure video visits at no cost to you.
GW Dining will be hosting Food Truck for Finals May 7, 8 and 9 at Potomac Square. There will be two food trucks available each day for breakfast from 8-10:30 a.m., and four available for lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Students and faculty/staff enrolled in a meal plan can pay for their food truck meal using a meal swipe. Dining Dollars and Campus Cash cannot be used as a form of payment during this special event. Cash, credit/debit card will be accepted at each truck's ordering window.
The bi-annual Final Lap events are set to take place Friday, April 26 through Thursday, May 9. Mental Health Day is a featured event from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at Kogan Plaza, hosted by the Student Government Association. There will be farm animals to play with, mental health resources, four themed raffle baskets, free swag and a bounce house.
There will also be a Paws & Relax session from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at the University Student Center's third-floor terrace. There will be professional therapy dogs roaming and free to pet.
