Parents, Guardians Encouraged to Bring Eligible Children to Vaccination Clinic in Downtown Harrisburg

Harrisburg, PA - With students preparing to go back to school, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is encouraging parents and guardians to bring their eligible children to a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Commonwealth Keystone Building, 400 North Street, Harrisburg. The clinic is free, and no registration is necessary.

'As we prepare for a return to teaching and learning in classrooms across Pennsylvania, it is critically important for children aged 12 and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine before the start of the new school year,' said Secretary of Education Noe Ortega. 'Vaccination clinics, like this one being offered in Harrisburg, allow us to continue to fight COVID-19 together, help prevent the spread of the virus, and get us closer to creating safe school environments.'

A limited supply of the Pfizer vaccine will be available for children 12 and older; second doses can be scheduled with the Department of Health or another vaccine provider.

'Getting vaccinated gives us the power to fight COVID-19 and provides the best protection against the COVID-19 virus and variants, including the highly transmissible Delta variant,' Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam said. 'This event, and other vaccination clinics in communities across the state, provide an opportunity for you and your families to get vaccinated.'

All Pennsylvanians aged 12 and older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Use the Vaccine Finder to find a COVID-19 vaccine provider near you.

Food and refreshments will be available in Soldier's Grove during the vaccination clinic. The Pretzel Spot Café food truck and the Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
