Traffic will be detoured

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a bridge replacement project is expected to begin on or after the week of Monday, March 4, on Buckwheat Valley Road (Route 4006) in Tuscarora Township, Perry County. The bridge spans Buckwheat Run near the intersection of Shull Hill Road.

This project consists of box culvert replacement, roadway reconstruction and other miscellaneous construction.

Weather permitting, the contractor will close the bridge on or about Monday, March 4. A detour will be in place using Route 849, Route 74, Route 17 and Creek Road (Route 4007).

A short-term closure is planned for Shull Hill Road at the intersection with Buckwheat Valley Road so a section of that road can be paved. A detour will be in place using Picnic Wood Road, Timber Road and Stone Arch Road. An update will be issued prior to that closure.

Jay Fulkroad and Son, Inc., of McAlisterville, PA, is the contractor on this $874,627.05 project.

All work on this contract is expected to be completed by June 17, 2024.
