St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Bangor Offering Marian Pilgrimage, Multiple Rosary Gatherings, and Novena for Peace During Month of Mary

BANGOR---For centuries, the month of May has been dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. To commemorate the occasion, St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Bangor is offering multiple opportunities for the faithful to gather in honor of the Blessed Mother.

On May 13, 1917, three shepherd children named Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco saw a vision of the Blessed Mother in Fatima, Portugal. They looked up to see, in Lucia's words, "A lady, clothed in white, brighter than the sun."

The woman was holding a rosary and said to the children, "Do not be afraid, I will not harm you. I come from heaven." Mary appeared to the children monthly, a total of six times, bringing a message of prayer, penance, and reparation. She urged them to pray the rosary every day to bring peace to the world and an end to war.

In that spirit, praying the Rosary is a frequent focus of the activities set for May.

Rosary Novena for Peace
A Rosary Novena will begin on Wednesday, May 4, and conclude with the Masses on the Memorial of Our Lady of Fatima on Friday, May 13. All are encouraged to join in praying the Rosary for nine days to implore the Blessed Mother's intercession and ask the Prince of Peace to bring healing to our world.
