New York Fed to Host 2024 Governance and Culture Reform Conference on May 21

May 14, 2024

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Governance and Culture Reform Initiative (Culture Initiative) will host an in-person conference on culture and behavior in the financial services industry on Tuesday, May 21.

The program will examine how elements of culture have evolved over the last decade and offer insights into how organizational cultures can shape future risk outcomes. Speakers will reflect on how accountability, incentives, and technology contribute to shaping healthy organizational cultures. The 2024 event builds on previous conferences and past webinar and podcast series on culture.

The event will feature conversations with experts from the financial sector, government, and academia including opening remarks from New York Fed President John Williams and a moderated discussion with Morgan Stanley Executive Chairman James Gorman.

The Culture Initiative is designed to foster discussion about corporate governance and the reform of culture and behavior in the financial services industry. The Initiative examines how formal organizational structures and underlying drivers of individual and group behaviors impact risk management and outcomes at financial firms.

This conference is open to reporters in-person and all remarks are on the record. Journalists interested in attending in person should contact Shelley Pitterson at [email protected]. See the event page for the full conference agenda and additional details.
