Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with a delegation led by Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, who is on a visit to our country.
At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the fact that the fraternal and friendly relations of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye ensure the sustainable development of relations between our countries in all areas, including energy cooperation. The role of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye multilateral energy partnership in strengthening allied relations was discussed.
During the conversation, extensive discussions were held on the priority areas of the energy agenda of the two countries. The current status and long-term prospects of natural gas supply from Azerbaijan to Türkiye and Europe, the expansion of TANAP, as well as the construction of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline and its commissioning this year were considered. In addition, the importance of cooperation with Türkiye in the development of Nakhchivan as a green energy zone was emphasized, and in this regard, activities within the working group established with the participation of both sides regarding to the investigation of the possibilities of exporting the electricity produced here to Türkiye and the possibility of transporting it from here to Europe, as well as the creation of infrastructure for this purpose were reviewed. The next steps in this direction have been determined.
At the meeting, the holding of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye 4th Energy Forum in Türkiye was also touched upon this year and it was noted that the sustainable events and intensive ties in this format will contribute to the development of energy cooperation between the two countries in different directions.
