Open comment period for Draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment Fort Berthold Rural Water System

BISMARCK, N.D.- The Bureau of Reclamation's Dakotas Area Office has prepared a Draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment for Phase III of Funding, Design, Construction, Operation, Maintenance, Repair and/or Replacement of Phase III Fort Berthold Rural Water System Projects.

Reclamation would appreciate your review and comments on the draft PEA. The review period will be open until December 15, 2023.

A digital copy of the draft PEA is available at https://www.usbr.gov/gp/dkao/index.html. Hard copies of the draft PEA may be obtained by calling Ashley Persinger, Environmental Coordinator, at 701-221-1282 or by requesting in writing from Area Manager, Bureau of Reclamation, P.O. Box 1017, Bismarck, North Dakota, 58502.

Reclamation is the lead Federal agency responsible for ensuring compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and related federal environmental and cultural resource legislation. The draft PEA presents the Proposed Action Alternative and evaluates the potential impacts to the human and natural environment associated with the Proposed Action Alternative in comparison with the No Action Alternative.

Reclamation will use this draft PEA and any reviewer comments to determine whether the project will have any significant impacts on the human and natural environment. If no significant issues are identified, Reclamation would issue a Finding of No Significant Impact. If any significant issues are identified, we may consider the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement. Reclamation defines significant in accordance with 40 CFR 1508.27.
