Two Under Arrest as Officers Recover Loaded Firearm after Investigation in Roxbury

At about 5:36 PM, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, members assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force, while conducting an ongoing investigation, stopped two individuals resulting in their arrest and the recovery of a loaded firearm in the area 35 Mount Pleasant Ave., in Roxbury. While on patrol, officers observed a group who appeared to be shocked and caught off guard by the officers. A 16 -year-old Juvenile male fled from the group while grabbing at his waistband. Officers followed the juvenile and observed him pull a black and tan colored firearm from his waistband and discard it in the hallway. Officers recovered a black and tan loaded Taurus 9MM firearm with obliterated serial numbers. The juvenile was placed in custody as well as Matos Edgard, 18, of Hyde Park.

Edgard was charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. He will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

The 16-year-old juvenile is charged with Delinquency to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. He will be arraigned in the Boston Juvenile Court.
