Against “patriotic socialism”

Commonly known among Communist Party members, the phenomenon of PatSocs or "patriotic socialists" has arisen in recent years and has its roots that go back to before the 2020s and even all the way back Browderism, which was fought against by multiple CPUSA members, most notably figures such as William Z. Foster. The phenomenon is liquidationist, as it calls for the dissolution of the party (as Infrared has done), and has a transphobic, ableist, anti-Semitic, and anti-Indigenous character. The social phenomenon puts above social media influencers as its main figureheads with many calling on the members or followers of their respective accounts to commit mass entryism into the Communist Party and other organizations (this has been done most notably with the splinter organization PCUSA and KFA-USA).

The PatSoc movement is inspired by such figures as Lyndon LaRouche ("the leading neo-fascist politician in the United States," according to the Encyclopedia of Right-Wing Extremism In Modern American History) and now-banned RT (Russia Today) commentator Caleb Maupin, a person that has met with LaRouche multiple times, and has invoked or extolled most of his ideas (as well as being an admirer of Earl Browder, who was expelled from the Communist Party). In more recent years, the PatSoc outlet Midwestern Marx has also acquired quite a following and has even been promoted by such an outlet as In These Times.

We have yet to call out "Patriotic Socialism" for what it is, which is so-called "National Socialism" in new garb. I contend that we need the 32nd convention to also stress the issue of ableism (especially in regard to Autistic and other socially disabled workers), Indigenous land stewardship and the wider Landback movement, and trans liberation, all of which PatSocs attack on a daily basis because that will also strengthen us against this threat, against infiltration, against dilution of our beliefs, and take the fight to this budding PatSoc movement. Having documents stolen by PatSoc forces, as happened in New York City, cannot be allowed to happen again. And the possible federal connections, such as those with Jackson Hinkle, are also note-worthy. We've had to expel many such people from the party. As long as a new Lavender Scare ramping up against trans folk and the USA remains a "prison house of nations."

Steps That Can Be Taken

We can also fight the PatSoc threat by supporting and amplifying our support of various movement, such as in Minnesota and other parts of the Midwest regarding the Landback movement.

Further steps that can be taken:

Edit the Party program to call out MAGA communism and "Patriotic Socialism" (or PatSocs) as movements that must be combated and aren't allowed in the CPUSA. Sloganeering and repeating explicit PatSoc talking-points are grounds for expulsion. For example, saying white supremacist phrases such as "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children " (or implying that white children are in danger as white people and not as, say, wage-workers) will be grounds for expulsion.

Certain patriotism or nationalism, such as the Indigenous land back movement or fondly looking back on proletarian movements through United States history, such as the Reconstruction era and abolitionist movement, is one thing (for example, proletarian or working-class patriotism, not as Americans, but as proletarians, could be emphasized). But the class struggle and fight against fascism takes precedence. Waving the American flag (a genocidal symbol) is not okay. Invoking American symbology is not okay. The people within the United States are increasingly un-patriotic to the American state and their roots as proletarians shall be emphasized over their "Americanness". I would listen to or read Lenin's great and underrated work on this issue (among other such works by Lenin). Referring to the Communist Party USA (in the geographical sense of the term, as is the case with the other Communist Parties) is one thing. Talking of "American citizens" is one thing as well. But ultimately, we must try to abolish the bourgeois American state that oppresses us. We are ultimately not American patriots. At best, we are working-class patriots. We need to know the difference.

We must also have our own official education program that will talk about CPUSA history, politics, and warn others of the dangers of fascism, MAGA communism, and right chauvinism as well as right deviationism. We need to gather Ed. Dept. or education group members within the CPUSA to craft an Education Program that's anti-PatSoc and stresses the history of the CPUSA post-1956. Tony Pecynovsky has elucidated the post-1956 history of the CPUSA with his recent work, giving much needed-insight and appreciation of an underrated era in CPUSA history. We need to continue to show this.. We cannot have PatSocs controlling the narrative about the CPUSA and reducing everything about it to what Earl Browder as much as ultra-leftists might reduce everything to what Harry Haywood said and did. W. Alphaeus Hunton, W.E.B. DuBois, Claudia Jones, etc., among others, should be stressed.

Male chauvinism and anti-femininity is also a huge problem in our society and MAGA communists like Jackson Hinkle and serial sexual abuser Caleb Maupin exude this problem in spades. Recently, Zhang Weiwei (who has about 73 thousand subscribers at the time of this writing) promoted such personalities as Jackson Hinkle (friend and promoter of Caleb Maupin) and uncritically promoted MAGA communism as well (as well as referred to a specter of "illegal immigrants" coming to America).

TikTok may be either banned or controlled by various bourgeois personalities and companies due to such worries as revealing the scope of the genocide in Gaza.
