Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center Recognizes Troutman Pepper's Pepper Center for Public Service for Pro Bono Efforts

PHILADELPHIA - Troutman Pepper's Pepper Center for Public Service has received the "2021 Light of Liberty Law Firm of the Year" award from the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center (PIRC). The nonprofit aims to provide free, effective legal representation, legal counsel, education, and advocacy to help immigrants obtain or protect their legal status. The firm was recognized at the annual Light of Liberty Awards Ceremony yesterday.

"PIRC has been an unsung hero to countless immigrants, and we are proud to support its mission," said Andrew Rogoff, senior counsel at Troutman Pepper. "We are honored to receive this award and recognize that it is made possible because of the hard work and dedication of our pro bono attorneys and the JD and LLM candidates through our partnership with Penn Law."

For several years, through its Pepper Center for Public Service, Troutman Pepper has worked in coordination with PIRC to obtain the release of mothers, fathers, and children from immigration custody, and represent them in immigration court hearings. PIRC has acted as a mentor through the various proceedings. In the last year, Troutman Pepper attorneys spanning multiple offices, including Rosemary T. Cochrane, Karli E. Cozen, Michael S. DePrince, Donna L. Fisher, Andrew R. Rogoff, Thomas B. Schmidt III, Whitney Tantisuwanna, Anthony Vale, and Kenneth H. Zucker, partnered with JD and LLM candidates to assist PIRC in providing services to vulnerable immigrants.

In 2020, Troutman Pepper attorneys volunteered more than 6,000 hours on immigration matters in various locations across the country. The Pepper Center for Public Service, amongst its other volunteer efforts, provides free and effective legal representation to help immigrants obtain or protect their legal status. Each year, Troutman Pepper attorneys dedicate thousands of pro bono hours in support of nonprofits, immigrants, military veterans, children, the wrongfully accused, and so many more.
