Fargo Public Library to Host Film Series Featuring Actor Gene Hackman

The four-part series begins April 14 at the Main Library

The Fargo Public Library will host a four-part film series starting Sunday, April 14, at the Main Library featuring movies starring actor Gene Hackman. Few actors are quite as beloved as Hackman, a two-time Oscar winner who appeared in almost every movie genre under the sun, from the early 1960s until his retirement from acting in 2004. Local film critic Matt Olien has selected the films featured in this series and will introduce each movie and lead a brief discussion after the screenings. All films begin at 2 p.m. and are approximately 120 minutes long. Dates and film titles are:
• April 14 - "The French Connection" (1971, R)
• April 21 - "Hoosiers" (1986, PG)
• April 28 - "Mississippi Burning" (1988, R)
• May 5 - "The Royal Tenenbaums" (2001, R)
