Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs

On 24 April 2023, H.E. Ms. Hou Yanqi, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to ASEAN, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Both sides reaffirmed shared commitments to further strengthening bilateral relations between Thailand and China and agreed that the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) serves as a key pillar of regional peace, stability, and prosperity. They also discussed ways to further enhance cooperation between ASEAN and China, while China supports ASEAN centrality and proactive role of Thailand in the region.

In addition, both sides exchanged views on China's role and its initiatives at the global level, as well as regional and international issues, including major power relations and the situations in Myanmar.

On the same day, H.E. Ambassador Hou Yanqi also paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and had a meeting with Ms. Usana Berananda, Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs.
