Geronimo Stilton, “A Thousand Wonders” from Italy in Swahili

The Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi is promoting the first Swahili-language edition of a book starring Geronimo Stilton, the famous mouse journalist born from an idea of Elisabetta Dami and star of numerous publications for children translated into more than 50 languages. The book in question is A Thousand Wonders. A Journey to Discover Italy, a special project promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Italian National Commission for UNESCO and produced by Edizioni Piemme-Mondadori Libri, with the aim of introducing girls and boys from all over the world to the artistic and cultural wonders of Italy.

Accompanied by his entire family, in A Thousand Wonders Geronimo Stilton travels Italy to discover cities, villages, stories and landscapes. From Rome to Venice, from the Apennines to the Alps, the friendly reporter visits the most famous monuments and places (including many of Italy's UNESCO World Heritage Sites), without forgetting the most hidden and lesser-known gems.

The book was presented in Nairobi during KidsCon - the new event dedicated to children and young people organised by the Nairobi Comic Convention - and came with the opportunity to meet Geronimo Stilton in person.

This special edition is produced by the Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi in collaboration with Atlantyca Entertainment, the company responsible for the international editions of the Geronimo Stilton books, and with the Kenyan publishing company Twaweza Communications. The book will be distributed in schools and libraries, also offering young Swahili-speaking readers a chance to follow the exciting adventures of Geronimo Stilton and explore Italy accompanied by a very unique guide.

The new Swahili-language edition now joins the Italian, French, Spanish and English versions and the more recent Portuguese, Bulgarian, Chinese, Ukrainian, Arabic and Vietnamese translations.
