Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP to Host a Spring Night Sky Program at the Knob Creek Farm

HODGENVILLE, KY - Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will host a free Spring Night Sky Program "Starry, Starry Night" at the Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek on Friday, May 17, 2024. The Knob Creek Tavern Visitor Center will be open 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (EST) and free night-sky related activities for children will begin at 7:00 p.m. (EST.) A tour of the night sky will begin after sunset.

Dr. Mark Pitts of Eastern Kentucky University's Department of Physics, Geosciences, and Astronomy will provide a tour of the spring night sky and will discuss topics including stars, planets, light pollution, and dark skies. Dr. Pitts night sky program will begin at sunset at approximately 8:48 p.m. (EST) and will end no later than 9:30 p.m. (EST.)

Visitors must register beforehand for the program by calling the park to make a reservation for the program. On the evening of the event, visitors must check in at the Knob Creek Tavern Visitor Center before the program begins. Please bring a flashlight, and a blanket or chair, wear sturdy shoes, and weather appropriate clothing.
