“I can’t understand why Sérgio Conceição and Vítor Bruno were sent-off”

Diamantino Figueiredo has a hard time accepting the red cards shown by Fábio Veríssimo at Estádio dos Barreiros (2-0)

FC Porto won in Funchal as the club has been doing for decades now: against everything and everyone. Having just won their fourth domestic trophy in a row, holding all simultaneously, in Leiria, the National Champions went to Madeira to beat Marítimo 2-0 in a match in which the adversity was plenty. After a memorable match, for the worst reasons, and in which both Sérgio Conceição and assistant coach Vítor Bruno were sent-off, goalkeeper coach Diamantino Figueiredo praised the "posture" of the Dragons, who wanted to "play without looking at the aggressiveness" of the opponent, and showed "balance" in "thinking the game" with a cool head.

Unusual aggression
"What changed was our posture of playing without looking at Marítimo's aggressiveness. That's the only reason we were able to bring the three points we worked for and get that goal."

A beating of 17 fouls in 45 minutes
"Our aggressiveness has been good over these years, in the fight for the first and second ball, with or without the ball. That's how we play, teams try to balance that aggressiveness, but I don't understand why Sérgio Conceição and Vítor Bruno were sent-of."

Cold blood in a burning match
"We were consistent in the way we looked at the match. We thought of what we had to do and we remained balanced in that regard. "

The red cards shown by referee Veríssimo
There was no reason for them. I was close by, especially to Sérgio. Vítor protested, without being aggressive in his posture or anything, but Sérgio's red card, for me, is not acceptable."
