Press Statement on the OTS Extraordinary Summit

The Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), to be hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will take place with the theme of "Disaster-Emergency Management and Humanitarian Assistance" in Ankara on March 16, 2023.

To be held upon the proposal of Azerbaijan, the Extraordinary Summit will be attended by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, OTS Term Chairman and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) representing the observer states, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of Hungary, and Chairman of the People's Council of the National Assembly of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The TRNC, which obtained the observer status at last year's summit in Samarkand, will be participating in an OTS summit for the first time.

The Extraordinary Summit, which will be held to display solidarity with Türkiye in the face of the major earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, will focus on cooperation in the fight against disasters and their impacts, and will address other issues that are of common concern.

President Erdoğan will also have bilateral meetings with his counterparts on the margins of the Extraordinary Summit.
