NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University hosted a Healthcare Academic and Career Exploration (ACE) day at Central Louisiana Technical Community College in Ferriday on Oct. 27. Students spent the day cycling through three 60-minute interactive workshops to learn about career opportunities in healthcare, including nursing, allied health, social work, psychology and addiction studies. Faculty members from NSU and CLTCC designed the experiential-learning workshops to engage high school students in learning more about what it will be like to work and learn in healthcare disciplines.

The event was customized for Catahoula Parish students with an interest in healthcare, according to Steven Gruesbeck, NSU Healthcare ACE director The Healthcare ACE team worked with Gruesbeck and Trinity Sanders, his assistant, to design and deliver interactive workshops that engage high school students in academic and career exploration involving healthcare fields.
