BPD works with Meridian police to stop theft group

On May 14, 2024, around 1 pm, the Boise Police Organized Retail Crime Unit (ORC) began investigating a theft involving four suspects at a business on the 500 block of N. Milwaukee St. The four suspects, later identified as Karen Monroy, Libia Suarez, Dario Castellanos, and Michael Robayo Pulido, were suspected of being a traveling organized retail crime group and worked together to steal approximately $4,700 in merchandise.

ORC investigators knew it was likely that the group would move quickly and target the same business's nearby location on the 2300 block of N. Eagle Rd. in Meridian so they began to head in that direction. Shortly after the first theft, the suspects entered that location with the intent to commit theft. The employees at the business were aware of the previous theft and called the police before the suspects could steal any merchandise. Boise Police and Meridian Police were already in the area looking for the suspects and shortly after 1:30 pm, Meridian Police located the suspects in the nearby parking lot. The suspects split up in different directions but officers were able to locate and detain them all shortly after. Following an investigation Monroy, Suarez, Castellanos, and Robayo Pulido were arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charges.

"This organized retail crime group has been traveling through several West Coast states for the last several weeks committing multiple thefts surpassing $20,000," said Boise Police ORC Cpl. Marshall Plaisted. "We appreciate the cooperation of our fellow law enforcement officers in the Treasure Valley and the local business community who partner with us to fight organized retail crime in real-time."
