Beijing Plans to Install 2,000 AED Cabinets at Bus Stations and Parks

Automated External Defibrillator, also known as AED, is often referred to as a "life-saving device". It is reported that the Beijing Bus Convenience Service Initiative plans to install 2,000 AED cabinets across the city's transportation network, with the first 200 being placed in high-traffic areas such as parks, bus stations, and train stations.

AED cabinets are currently being installed and made operational at Dawangjing Park, Wanghe Park, Tuanjie Lake Park and other locations. In addition to AEDs, power banks are available for rental in these red AED cabinets, with more features to be discovered by the public.

Each AED cabinet is equipped with a flow chart for on-site first aid, which includes both texts and pictures to guide users. When a person opens the cabinet and retrieves the AED, an instructive recording will be played, providing step-by-step guidance for completing the rescue process. The emergency workers will also offer remote guidance once the rescuers dial 120.

The Beijing Bus Convenience Service Initiative plans to put into service 2,000 AED cabinets across the city's public transportation network. The first 200 cabinets will be placed by high-speed public transportation lines and spots with high passenger flows, limited convenience facilities, and concentrated passenger demand. Examples of these lines and spots include the Western Suburban Line, the first and last bus stops, major train stations, and parks in Chaoyang District. The rest 1,800 cabinets will be set up at bus stations close to hospitals, scenic areas, parks, schools, and other venues alike. Moving forward, such cabinets will also be installed near clubs, stadiums, convention and exhibition centers, etc.
