Wiltshire Council is working to resurface the B3105 in Staverton from Tuesday 7 May to Friday 31 May. To minimise disruption, the work will be completed at night and in three phases.

The first phase, from Horse Road to Hammond Way, will take place from Tuesday 7 May to Friday 10 May and the road will be closed from 7pm-midnight to minimise disruption for local residents.

Phase two, from Hammond Way to the B3106, just over the bridge, will take place from Monday 13 May until Thursday 16 May, with the closure once again in place from 7pm-midnight to keep disruption to a minimum.

Phase three will see the teams working from Friday 17 May to Friday 24 May, 7pm to 6am, from the B3106 to the junction with Bradford Road.

Finally, from Monday 27 May to Friday 31 May, the council will finish off the project by adjusting ironworks and installing new road markings. The road will be closed from 7pm to midnight for these works.

Cllr Nick Holder, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work on the B3105 in Staverton, but we need to resurface the road and we're doing all we can to minimise disruption by doing the work at night and limiting the timing of the work in the residential areas. Access for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

We know that some people will be concerned that we didn't do this immediately after Wessex Water finished its work to replace a water main on the road last year. However, as we explained at the time, following major work by a utilities company they often have to re-dig parts of the site to fix an issue - and the last thing we wanted was to resurface the road, only for it to be dug up again soon afterwards.

We have committed to having well-connected communities as part of our Business Plan, and we hope that the people over Staverton will be well served by this newly-refurbished road once the work is complete.

As part of the works, the council will be conducting drainage surveys on B3105 New Terrace Road and Marsh Road, excluding the area from railway bridge, north to the traffic lights at river bridge from Monday 22 April to Friday 26 April, from 9.30am to 3pm under two-way lights - there won't be a road closure during this time. Then, from Monday 29 April to Friday 3 May, it will be carrying out more drainage surveys on the B3105 Staverton from railway bridge, north to traffic lights at river bridge under a road closure.
