Tanner Expanding Access to Pediatrics with Tanner Urgent Care for Kids
Little is worse than having a sick or injured child. Whether a fever, a deep cut or a bad fall, people want their little ones (and adolescent ones) to be OK.
Tanner Health is answering with a new walk-in clinic tailored to children: Tanner Urgent Care for Kids.
The clinic is under construction in the Tanner Health Pavilion in Carrollton, just by the local Tanner Healthcare for Children location. The space was previously occupied by Tanner Medical Group's administrative offices, which have relocated to the new Tanner Resource Center on Hays Mill Road in Carrollton.
"Children and teens need and deserve specialized care," said Steven Eubanks, MD, a board-certified pediatrician with Tanner Healthcare for Children who will serve as the new clinic's medical director. "Trying to get worked-in with a pediatrics practice when a child is sick or has an injury can be challenging because of patient volume. Here, we're building a one-stop shop for walk-in pediatric care with a medical team that specializes in young people."
The more than 5,200-square-foot clinic will offer 14 exam rooms, staffed by pediatricians and advanced practice providers. The clinic will offer weekday, evening and weekend hours, open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Tanner Urgent Care for Kids is expected to open in August.
The practice will offer care for the same problems other Tanner Urgent Care locations treat - cuts, sprains, burns, respiratory ailments, flu, stomach problems, earaches, rashes and more.
Parents will also be able to get their child into an exam room faster with Tanner's "On My Way" option in their Tanner MyChart app - a popular feature at Tanner Urgent Care's other regional locations.
"This is going to be great for our kids and our community," said Dr. Eubanks. "It seems like kids always need care at the most inconvenient times - now, there are no inconvenient times because you can bring them in days, evenings and weekends to get specialized care."
Tanner also offers urgent care services at Tanner Urgent Care/Carrollton, Tanner Urgent Care/Villa Rica and Tanner Urgent Care/Bremen. Tanner Healthcare for Children has locations in the same cities.
