Troutman Pepper's Jessica Lohr Recognized by San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program for Pro Bono Work

SAN DIEGO - Jessica Lohr, an associate in Troutman Pepper's Consumer Financial Services Practice Group, has been recognized by the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program (SDVLP) as a Standout for her pro bono work with the nonprofit's Guardianship Program. The SDVLP Standout Award recognizes volunteers who have made exceptional contributions to client service and to the organization as a whole.

'I am honored to be recognized among SDVLP's Standout volunteers,' Lohr said. 'It has been a privilege to serve San Diego's families who are seeking legal assistance though the Guardianship Program.'

Through SDVLP's Guardianship Program, volunteers assist relative and non-relative caretakers in obtaining legal guardianship of children and also assist with objections to guardianship, requesting termination of a guardianship, seeking visitation orders, requesting to move outside California, or addressing defects with filings. In one recent case, Lohr represented an aunt who was seeking guardianship of her young nephews, after the children's mother had died. Lohr helped the client successfully petition for permanent guardianship of the children who were victims of domestic violence. The children are now residing in a safe and stable home.

Lohr was recognized for her continued support of the Guardianship Program alongside fellow recipients of the SDVLP Standout Award during the virtual SDVLP celebration on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Established in 1983, SDVLP partners with volunteer lawyers to provide legal services to San Diego's most vulnerable community members. The organization aids disadvantaged families, seniors, persons with disabilities, persons living with HIV/AIDS, and domestic violence survivors, with over 75% of its clients being women and children.

At Troutman Pepper, Lohr defends consumer reporting agencies, national banking institutions, and mortgage loan servicers in federal and state courts, at both the trial and appellate levels, in the areas of complex litigation and business disputes, financial services litigation, and consumer litigation. She has handled individual cases and class actions coast to coast and has substantial experience handling general commercial disputes in both state and federal courts in California.
