On April 28, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded for the report of a person struck by a train at the tracks behind the 2400 block of Pembina Highway.

The Winnipeg Fire and Ambulance Service was already onscene providing emergency medical care to a 16-year-old male who sustained life-altering injuries. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable condition. Family notifications have been made.

WPS and C.N. Police continue to investigate, and the incident appears accidental.

The public is reminded to exercise extreme caution when their activities take them in and around active rail lines.
