FACEBOOK LIVE (9/29): Pregnancy and COVID-19

What do pregnant women need to know about COVID-19 and how to keep themselves and their babies safe?

The UC Davis Health Facebook Live will be held Wed., Sept. 29 at 12 p.m.

Three UC Davis Health physicians from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology will share their insights in an upcoming UC Davis Health Facebook Live event about COVID-19 and pregnancy. The event will air live on Wed., Sept. 29 at 12 p.m.

Alison Breen, Hui Amy Chen and Elizabeth Coulter will share first-hand experiences with being pregnant during the pandemic. They will also discuss their decision to get vaccinated while expecting.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19 among pregnant people when compared with non-pregnant people. Severe illness includes illness that requires hospitalization, intensive care, need for a ventilator or special equipment to breathe, or illness that results in death. Additionally, pregnant people with COVID-19 are at increased risk of preterm birth and might be at increased risk of other adverse pregnancy outcomes, compared with pregnant women without COVID-19.

During the virtual event, viewers can pose questions to the physicians.
