SCDOT to close part of Catawba River Road for bridge repairs

Columbia, S.C.(April 24, 2024) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close part of Catawba River Road (US 21) bridge over an abandoned railroad in Chester County for repairs starting May 1. The closure is expected to last approximately 30 days.

The road will be closed at the bridge site and traffic will be detoured utilizing Rock Hill Highway (SC 5), Charlotte Highway (US 521), and Highway 9 Bypass West (SC 9). A map of the detour can be found below. Please note that Catawba River Road (US 21) will be open to local traffic during the closure.
