Fort Worth Park & Recreation, in partnership with New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, will present the second annual Fun Over Guns | The Rube Foster Pitch, Hit & Run Competition.

What to expect: Building on the success of last year's event, this year's competition is set to be even bigger and better, attracting youth from across Fort Worth to showcase their baseball and softball skills. Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit & Run events provide a platform for boys and girls, ages 7-14 (age as of Nov. 15, 2024) to demonstrate their athletic abilities while fostering teamwork and healthy competition.

Event details: Noon, Saturday, April 20. Gateway Park, 751 Beach St. Register online.

"We are excited to bring back this great opportunity for its second year," said Kyev Tatum, pastor of New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and member of the Fort Worth Park & Recreation Advisory Board.

Participants in the Pitch, Hit & Run Competition can earn recognition and potentially advance to the national stage, with the chance to compete during the 2024 MLB World Series.

This year's competition is sponsored in part by Fort Worth Park & Recreation, New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Worth Youth Outreach, Major League Baseball and the Texas Rangers.
