New AMA Chapter at SFU takes root

American Marketing Association (AMA) Chapter at Saint Francis University

Students and members of the chapter of AMA, Christine Covello, and Elena Arnold, succeeded in winning first place at NC State's regional collegiate conference.

A new chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) at Saint Francis University, established by Marketing students at Saint Francis University with the assistance of Assistant Professor of Marketing Kim Flanders, is seeing early success.

The mission of AMA is to provide students with chances for professional growth, to network with professionals in the sector, and to participate in academic and social events all year long.

"We are excited about the future of AMA here at SFU. The group is planning to continue to compete in regional and national competitions, which will require them to continue fundraising and sharpening their marketing skills. Additionally, they are planning a public educational event for the fall. Plus, they are continuously recruiting new members from a variety of majors to make the club more robust," said Flanders.

The recently established SFU chapter intends to take part in the 2024 AMA International Collegiate Conference, which is slated for New Orleans, Louisiana, from April 11-13. Students can compete in this conference, attend marketing workshops, and get career advice from professionals.

Students and members of the chapter of AMA, Christine Covello, and Elena Arnold, succeeded in winning first place at NC State's regional collegiate conference. Accompanied by Kim Flanders, the two SFU students were able to prevail with a prepared case study, marketing strategy, and a 90-second pitch about themselves.

Through these conferences, students gain important real-world knowledge by listening to professional speakers, discussing important topics, or interacting with potential employers.
