Sen. Yaw, Rep. Fritz Announce State Investment for Susquehanna County Project

HARRISBURG - State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-111) today announced that an $8,500 state investment has been awarded to the Friends of Salt Springs Park, Inc., Franklin Township, Susquehanna County. Funding for this project was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

The state grant will enhance the Border Trail, a popular hiking trail located at the Salt Springs Park, which floods each year due to poor drainage and erosion, causing the trail to be impassable.

'I was pleased to support and advocate for this project that will improve trail drainage and prevent flooding at the Park,' Sen. Yaw said. 'This investment will have a positive impact for all who utilize the Border Trail.'

'We take pride in our beautiful parks and trails here in the 111th district,' said Rep. Fritz. 'The funding provided for this drainage project ensures that we can continue to do so while also keeping the public safe.'

This project includes the installation of three 5 foot pipes along the trail, which will divert the water causing muddy and icy conditions. The pipes will be covered with gravel and graded to ensure safety for visitors. The state investment is part of additional funding secured by the Friends of Salt Springs Park Inc.
