Russian Minister of Defence considers it necessary to change performance evaluation of scientific institutions for defence industry

The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergey Shoigu has held a meeting with the scientific community in the science town located in Novosibirsk.

Responding to the question of the vice-president of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences academician Nikolay Pokhilenko about the ways to change the attitude of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia to the projects of the academic institutes in the interest of the defence industry, the chief of the military institution considered that it was necessary to change the performance evaluation of the work of scientific institutions that is implemented for the defence industry.

The Minister of Defence noted that the results of the projects that are implemented in the interest of the defence industry cannot be published in top-rated foreign scientific journals, while this is what the performance evaluation largely depends on.
