Follow the live stream of student rocket Launch SERA-4

The SERA-4 launch campaign hosted by the French Space Agency CNES is part of the Perseus project. SERA-4 is the last one to be launched in the student rocket development project. Technically it is a smaller rocket, using a one stage motor and it will reach an apogee of approximately 2 km.

-PERSEUS student project was funded in 2005 by CNES with the purpose to develop rockets. Next stage is to test rocket motors with liquid fuel, that will happen in 2025-2026, also at Esrange Space Center, says CNES Project Manager David Tchou-Kien.

Previous rockets have been supersonic but due to changes in rocket motors the SERA-4 will be subsonic. In this project the aim is to test and develop new avionics.

-One of the most important parts is for the students to actually work with a real rocket campaign and learn how everything works on the launch site, says Marie Sophie Lachesnais, PERSEUS Project administrative manager.

Time and date

The launch was scheduled to take place at Esrange Space Center outside Kiruna, May 31 at 06:00 CEST but due to the weather and unfavorable winds the launch had to be cancelled. New launch date to be updated after the weather meeting.
