Legislator of the Year

Thanks to the Humane Society Legislative Fund for naming me one of their four Legislators of the Year. I shared this honor with Senators Cory Booker (D-New Jersey) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-West Virginia) and my House colleague Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas). We have all worked on banning the sale of shark fins in the United States. My bill, the Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act, H.R. 2811, mirrors Marianas lawthat already bans the sale, purchase, or possession of shark fins. The bill has the backing of 245 Members from both sides of the aisle and was incorporated in the America COMPETES Act, when it passed the House in July.
