Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania has joined the National Academy of Medicine Change Maker Campaign alongside hundreds of others committed to the important health workforce well-being movement.

Dr. Kimberly Delbo of Commonwealth University's College of Health Professions attended the National Academy of Medicine's inaugural Health Workforce Well-Being Day Celebratory Event in Washington D.C. on Capitol Hill on March 12, where partners of the Change Maker Campaign were acknowledged.

"It was a delight to meet so many extraordinary other Change Makers and healthcare leaders today who are serving as beacons of hope across our nation to promote the well-being of health workers, including, Dr. Victor Dzau, President of the National Academy of Medicine; Dr. Pam Cipriano, 29th President of the International Council of Nurses; and Dr. Beverly Malone, President of the National League for Nursing," said Delbo. "In addition, I enjoyed hearing the heart-felt and inspirational messages of United States Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, and Dr. Don Berwick, President of the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, as well as congressional remarks, and others who shared their own stories of overcoming and mitigating burnout."

"Our own and our fellow Change Makers' work to institutionalize well-being as a long-term value will be key to identifying successes and challenges, measuring impact, and inspiring support for health worker well-being while addressing burnout in the days ahead as we seek to fundamentally challenge cultures and the healthcare and education ecosystems," added Delbo.

Health Workforce Well-Being Day of Awareness was March 18. This annual day in March brought together national and institutional leaders, policymakers, patients and communities, and health workers of all professions to acknowledge our collective progress and pledge to continue advancing health worker well-being, and reverse trends in health worker burnout, by continuing to curate innovative tools and resources.
