Deputy Minister Dong expressed his delight at the strong development of diplomat, economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Indonesia. Two-way trade turnover hit approximately 13 billion USD in 2022, creating an optimism that the two countries will exceed the set target of 15 billion USD by 2028, he added.

Indonesia has invested 107 projects worth 639 million USD in Vietnam and ranked 29th out of 141 countries and territories investing in the country, mainly on real estate, cement production. Deputy Minister Dong said much room remains for the two countries' cooperation in other promising areas such as petroleum processing, tourism and cultural exchange.

The host also briefed the Indonesian Deputy Minister about socio-economic situation of Vietnam in 2022: the GDP growth reaches 8.02%, macroeconomy is maintained, inflation put under control, major balances guaranteed, and foreign direct investment (FDI) disbursement reached a new record of over 20 billion USD.

On this occasion, Dong shared some orientations for new-generation FDI attraction of Vietnam like creating a transparent and open business investment environment, developing strategic infrastructure to create favorable conditions for businesses, and improving the quality of human resources.
