FourBlock Veteran Career Readiness Program

FourBlock's Veteran Career Readiness Program (VCRP) is designed to empower veterans with the tools, resources, and connections needed to thrive in the civilian workforce. With a focus on networking and career immersion trips, FourBlock offers opportunities for veterans to make long-lasting connections and gain valuable insights into various industries. This is a great program for veterans looking to transition smoothly into civilian life and excel in their future careers.

During this multi-week program, veterans will have networking opportunities, career immersion trips, and gain industry insights directly from career professionals. Brigette McCoy, a doctoral student at Georgia State University, said, "This is a great opportunity to grow and improve and gain access to communities of people who are hiring at a high level and people that are professionals at a high level so you can build your network and better strategize for your future career."

Through the VCRP, many veterans have been introduced to a new network of individuals who are seeking to up-skill themselves and transition to new careers. Also, the program allows veterans the opportunity to access people from other regions and internationally, which exponentially expands their network.

As part of the program, participants participate in career immersion trips to prospective employers where the VCRP facilitates sessions in which veterans can gain insight into new industries and better understand what prospective future careers may entail. During these trips veterans meet with industry professionals who explain what a typical day-in-the-life of their career looks like, how to be competitive in their job search, and some hiring process tips so that veterans may have a more successful career search.

Mark Ohler, FourBlock Veterans Career Readiness Program alum, said, "It's a great way to network and meet people, and the program exposes you to roles within the industry that you may not have expected or known about." Furthermore, he went on to say that veterans should apply for the VCRP because "it's a free program that allows veterans to network with industry professionals who give insight into prospective careers."

Over several weeks, FourBlock's VCRP gives veterans an added boost of confidence and purpose in their career search by providing them with quality information and giving them exposure to new and varied career fields, and a space to network with their peers and FourBlock mentors. VCRP participants have expressed their satisfaction with the program, saying that it's informative and perspective-changing. Also, participants have stated that they have put into practice new techniques and tactics that will help them along their journey to a new and successful career.

The VCRP connects the educational and experiential, including past experiences, together to move forward with a successful and sustainable career. McCoy said she is "enthusiastically supportive of the program as a way of bringing veterans into a space with one another where they can share successes and challenges, while at the same time overcoming those challenges and improving their successes."

All veterans who seek to add more tools to their kit, or are interested in entering new careers, or changing careers, are encouraged to apply to the VCRP. To learn more about FourBlock's Veteran Career Readiness Program, please visit FourBlock's webpage.
