April 26, 2024 - The goats are back! Beginning Tuesday, April 30, a Facilities Landscape Services Brush Clearance contractor will be conducting vegetation reduction as part of the campus' annual fire clearance requirements.

Goats are a proven way to manage vegetation without the use of toxic chemicals or fuel-intensive equipment. The goats can eat about 4% of their body weight each day, fertilizing the soil as they move across the landscape. Dogs will accompany the goats to protect them from predators.

Brush clearance work will take place April 30 through May 30 on the hillside behind Aliso, Arroyo, and Ironwood Halls, and Potrero Field.
