The Quarter to come alive with REAF entertainment

Friday 19 April 2024

The Quarter will come alive with a slew of exciting entertainment options as part of this year's Red Earth Arts Festival.

The Red Earth Arts Festival runs from 9-12 May and will see the activation of The Quarter thanks to Woodside Energy and its joint venture partners.

From an open-air concert featuring the acclaimed percussionist Sam Maher, and one of Australia's most significant Indigenous songwriters Frank Yamma, to workshops with Black Swan State Theatre where drama collides with sport, and live painting with talented artists from Yinjaa-Barni Art Group, there are a wide variety of acts and activities to enjoy.

Other highlights include the Music and Good Vibes community event with upbeat acoustic roots and blues artist Ben Catley as well as the Plants of the Pilbara immersive art installation showcasing the magic of Western Australia's native flora on a larger-than-life scale, and the accompanying workshops, where you can create your own giant paper flower inspired by the installation.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said he was looking forward to the activation of The Quarter during REAF.

"It's fantastic to see such a great line up of events available for locals to enjoy at multiple venues during the Festival," Cr Scott said.

"I would like to thank Woodside Energy and their joint venture partners for their support in activating The Quarter for this fantastic event.

"Arts are a large part of our community and I encourage everyone to come down, buy a ticket and enjoy the great acts, workshops and performances during this years Red Earth Arts Festival.

REAF is proudly presented by the City of Karratha and Principal Partner Rio Tinto, with Event Partner Woodside Energy and its joint venture partners, and Program Partner Pilbara Ports. In-kind sponsorship has been provided by Pilbara Traffic Management and Damel.
