Rep. Troy E. Nehls Introduces Resolution Condemning Mexican President’s Comments on “60 Minutes”

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) introduced a House Resolution condemning Mexican President Andrés Manuel LópezObrador'scomments on "60 Minutes" on March 24, 2024, and calling on the Mexican government to limit illegal immigration.

Specifically, the resolution condemns President Andrés Manuel LópezObrador'sMarch 24, 2024, comments as amounting to diplomatic blackmail, calls on the Mexican government to limit illegal immigration by securing its own southern border, reach an agreement with the United States for Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP)/Remain in Mexico, and establish a Safe Third Country Agreement with the United States.

"The comments made by Mexico's President are reprehensible and equate to diplomatic blackmail," said Congressman Nehls. "To mitigate illegal immigration, Mexico should secure its own border, reimplement President Trump's successful 'Remain in Mexico' policy, and establish a Safe Third Country Agreement with the United States. When did the United States of America start to meet the 'demands' of a foreign country? I'll tell you when-when Joe Biden became president. This is completely unacceptable."

The resolution was cosponsored by Congressman Jake Ellzey (R-TX-06) and Tom Tiffany (R-WI-07).
