A juvenile is arrested after a pursuit in the city of Rochester

Press Release

On April 18, 2024, at approximately 11:14 a.m., troopers from SP Rochester Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) Initiative attempted to stop a known stolen 2021 Kia Sportage on Lyell Street in the city of Rochester. The suspect vehicle failed to comply, so a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit traversed multiple city streets before ending on Seward Street. The 15-year-old operator fled on foot and, after a short foot pursuit, was taken into custody. The 15-year-old was taken to SP Rochester for processing and charged with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd (A Misdemeanor), Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd (A Misdemeanor), and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (A Misdemeanor).

It was revealed that there were two active warrants from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office for Robbery 2nd and the Rochester Police Department for a family court offense. The 15-year-old was issued a Monroe County Family Court appearance ticket and was released into the custody of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
