CU Department of Business announces outstanding students

The Cameron University Department of Business has announced the student recipients of departmental awards. Students from each of the department's degree programs - Associate in Science in Business (AS), Bachelor of Accounting (BACC), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership (ORGL), Master of Science in Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) - were selected, as well as awards honoring the top research student in the department.

Shaily Robinson, Lawton, was honored as the Outstanding AS in Business student. Robinson is a sophomore who will spend the summer helping a family member in running a business. The experience will provide her with the hands-on experience she needs to pursue her dream of opening her own business. She is currently exploring various areas of business to determine her future profession.

Marshall Sadler, Lawton, was selected to receive the Outstanding BBA award. Following completion of his degree, he plans to work overseas for two years, then return to the U.S. to enroll at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Sadler plans to work toward a Doctorate of Ministry to become a pastor.

LilliAnn Glen, Lawton, was honored as Outstanding Accounting student. She plans to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam. She also wants to better her community.

Alex Molina, Elgin, was named Outstanding Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership student. He plans to continue in his current position as director of academics at the Marine Artillery Detachment at Fort Sill.

Outstanding MBA Student awards went to Miricle Carter, Lawton, and Shalei Okamura, Killeen, Texas. Carter will sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam to achieve her goal of becoming a CPA. She will continue her employment at a CPA firm in Lawton, where she has learned not only the skills needed to be successful in the field as well as character building and lifelong lessons. Okamura will also sit for the CPA exam and is excited to see what doors of opportunity that will provide.

Victoria Palmer, Yukon, was named Outstanding MSOL Student. Currently a business office manager at a hospice firm - a field she enjoys - she would like to advance her career, ultimately working as an executive director or director of human resources.

Honored with the Outstanding Research Student Award were Jennifer Batchelor, Windsor, N.C., and Uma Chawal, Bhaktapur, Nepal. Batchelor looks forward to completing a graduate degree and the opportunities that it will offer for her personal and professional development. A graduate student pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree, Chawal plans to pursue a career in the banking industry.

The Cameron University Department of Business is accredited by ACBSP, the specialized accreditation association for business education that embraces teaching excellence.
