Celebrating Chinese New Year for sixth time in Serbia

The government of the Republic of Serbia announced today that together with the Embassy of the Republic of China in Serbia, the Chinese Cultural Centre and the Belt and Road Institute, it is organising the sixth Chinese New Year celebration in Serbia from 29 January to 19 February, with a series of events and cultural programmes in Nis, Novi Sad, Smederevo and Belgrade.

The central celebration will be held on Friday, 9 February, in Belgrade, in front of Galerija mall at Belgrade Waterfront neighbourhood, with speeches by high-ranking officials of the Republic of Serbia, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Serbia Li Ming and representatives of the Belt and Road Institute.

Apart from Belgrade, as in the previous year, the Chinese New Year will be celebrated in several cities of Serbia: in Nis (29 January), Novi Sad (30 January), Smederevo (6 February).

All content and prepared programmes aim to strengthen ties in the field of culture and value exchange between Serbia and China, promoting mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative.
